Charles Robert Moore left this temporal realm to be with his Lord on the morning of Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 80 years of age.
Charlie was born October 27, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri to Charles and Ethel Moore. Charlie’s biological dad left when Charlie was about six years of age. A couple of years later and after some extremely hard times, Charlie Noble came into the family’s life.
Charlie Noble and Ethel were eventually married. Charlie Moore was especially fond of Charlie Noble and he served as a great role model throughout the years.
In 1957 Charlie joined the U.S. Navy. He developed a friendship with Doug Nonnweiller. Through that friendship, Charlie was introduced to Doug’s sister Carol. Charlie and Carol were married in June 1959. Charlie and Carol’s marriage produced three children, Allen, Edward, and Tammie.
Throughout their marriage, Charlie worked at a variety of jobs. Including working as a machinist, carpenter, real estate sales, stove sales, and real estate management. Charlie was also involved in various businesses throughout the region with several others, with partnerships with Tim Wilkins in Moore-Wilkins Excavating, and Paul Richardson in Sane Mule & Motorcycle Trade Co.
He was in a forty-year partnership with Gary and Jennifer Burton, owning half of Carolina West and various other rental properties throughout Jasper and Newton County. He got great joy in pestering the ladies that worked for M&B Enterprises as managers of Carolina West. At one time he constructed and leased group homes to the State of Missouri. After an extended fight with cancer, Carol left this world to be with the Lord on July 24, 2005.
Following the death of Carol, Charlie spent a couple years alone, but met Laura Wheeler giving her a ride on his motorcycle that eventually led to a marriage. They became Charlie and Laura Moore on October 12, 2007 at Oakton Methodist Church. Laura survives at the time of his death.
Charlie was quite the prankster, jokester, and storyteller, but had a heart that was generous toward all. This writer recalls the numerous bench races that were held at Sane Mule & Motorcycle where the first liar never had a chance. On a trip to California we watched as he generously left tips as high as $200 for servers that had definite needs. He didn’t throw money away but was quick to share with those whom he had determined had a definite need.
Charlie was pre-deceased by Stepfather Charlie Noble, Mother Ethel Noble, wife Carol Moore, three half-sisters and one half-brother. He is survived by wife Laura Moore, son Allen and wife Pamela Moore of Parkville, Missouri, son Edward and wife Cindy Moore of Independence, Missouri, daughter Tammie and husband Terry Busher of Baldwin, Missouri, granddaughter Lauren and husband Justin Nesmith of Royce City, Texas, grandson Charles and wife Chuckie Moore of Kansas City, Missouri, two great-grandchildren, and nephew Dave “Curly” and wife Cheri Bales of Joplin, Missouri.
Following the cremation, a private ceremony will be held for immediate family.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future for the vast number of family, friends, and other associates. An announcement of this event will be published once that time is determined.
