(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Paul F. Dilts, age 90, of Joplin, MO, graduated to glory on Thursday, November 5th, 2020 . He was born July 14th, 1930 near Beaverdam, Ohio to E.E. and Olive Dilts. He graduated from Rawson High School, in Rawson, Ohio. He joined the Air Force and served 3 years during the Korean War and later as Chaplain in the Civil Air Patrol.
He married Marjorie Hutchinson in 1954. Together they founded 2 churches in Florida, and in 1965 moved to Joplin, MO to serve as pastor of the Pentecostal Church of God. Resigning the church in 1974, they served as missionaries in Central America for 20 years. While there, they helped establish 200 churches, a Bible School to teach young men and women to become Pastors, and established 3 grade schools.
Returning to Joplin in the fall of 1974, Paul again accepted the position of pastor, reopening their former church as Crown of Life Chapel. Paul resigned full-time ministry in 2002.
Paul is survived by his wife, Marjorie E. Dilts of Joplin, MO, and his 3 children - Rhonda Walton of Edmond, OK, Denise Hinkle and husband Sam Hinkle of Warsaw, MO, and Dennis Dilts and wife Joyce Dilts of Joplin, MO.
He is preceded in death by both parents, 3 brothers - Glenn Dilts, John Dilts, and Frank Dilts, and two sisters - Marcella Snyder and Alverda Saul. He is survived by his brother, Carl Dilts of Lima, OH and his sister, Suetta Dilts-Santiago of Miami, FL. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Joplin Family Worship Center in Joplin, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to Crown Ministries in honor of Paul, which can be received at the funeral home or mailed directly to Crown Ministries PO Box 815, Joplin, MO 64801.
