(From Parker Mortuary)Rickie Lee Farmer, 61, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Mercy Hospital.
Rick was born March 20, 1959, in Fairland, Oklahoma to the union of the late Walter and Stella (Hooper) Farmer. He was a 1977 graduate of McDonald County High School. Rick was a career entrepreneur, owning and operating several area businesses including the King C Store in Southwest City and Farmer’s Market in Grove. He currently owned and operated his own local trucking company.
In his earlier years, Rick enjoyed raising cattle and flying his personal plane. He was a bargain hunter and often frequented the local auctions. Rick was a professional talker and never knew a stranger. He was always social and happiest when around people.
Rick was extremely giving, sometimes to a fault, and would do absolutely anything to help anyone. He was a Christian and attended church regularly. Rick truly made the world a better place and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving companion, Rosie Melendez, of Joplin; his daughter, Crystal Sutton, and her husband, Logan, of Jay, Oklahoma; his grandson, Camden Sutton; four siblings, Eddie Farmer, Joyce Gonzalez, Donna Price and Rhonda Mitchell; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2020 at the Sparlin Gallemore Cemetery near Racine with Pastor David Knox officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Grove Christian Center in support of their mission fund – P.O. Box 450997, Grove, OK 74345.
For those attending graveside services, the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing be practiced.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
