Mary Litchfield

Mary Lurinda Litchfield, 85, of Anderson Missouri, departed this life and entered her eternal home in Heaven on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin after a brief illness.

Mary entered this life on August 8, 1936, in Kanorado, Kansas, one of twelve children born to the late Billie and Edith Oral (McNary) Gorman. She resided in Kanorado until moving to Anderson, Missouri, in 1953 at the age of seventeen. She was a 1955, graduate of Southwest City High School. 








On June 25, 1955, she was united in marriage to Bob Litchfield and together they shared forty years before his passing on October 12, 1995. Early in their marriage Mary traveled with Bob while he worked on the railroad with Kansas City Southern. 

Mary had a love for people especially children, fostering many kids over the years. She also worked several years with the McDonald County School District in the Opaa program. Mary was a devoted Christian and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a great example of a woman of faith and known as a prayer warrior among her friends and family. She was a long time faithful member of Zion Word Church in Anderson, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Litchfield; three brothers, Earl Linn Gorman, Billie Murrel Gorman and Hank Gorman; two sisters, Irma Idelle Gorman and Connie Jean King.

Mary is survived by her three children, Jody Gorman of Anderson, Audrey Clutter of Noel and Amy Tanner of Emporia, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Austin Chambers, Bradly Gilmore, Devin Gilmore, Edie Gilmore, Gage Noponen, Gunner Noponen and Jacob Tanner; a great grandson, Bubba; six siblings, June Hawpe of Scott City, Kansas, Lennard Ike Gorman of Pineville, Leta Ealla of Colby, Kansas, Loren Arley Gorman of Diamond, Vera Kay Gorman of Scott City and Bonnie Irene McQuillen of Anderson; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 3, 2021 at Peace Valley Cemetery with her pastor, Dr. Randy Davis, officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Bradly Gilmore, Devin Gilmore, Austin Chambers, Clinton Calcote, Bo Wilcox and Keith Parsons. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-6:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home.
