Bill Arkle

William ‘Bill’ Arkle was born February 27, 1929, in Creston, Iowa. He entered into rest on July 3, 2023, in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 94. 

Bill served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict, serving from Aug. 7, 1950, until February 20, 1952. 

In January of 1954, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri and lived in Independence, Missouri for twenty-five years and moved to Joplin in 1977. He and his wife, Jo, owned and operated an insurance agency, Arkle Shelter Insurance Agency for 26 years, retiring in 2004. 








Bill was an avid Kansas City Chiefs Fan, and, was a season ticket holder while the team played at the municipal stadium in Kansas City and later at Arrowhead stadium. 

On July 4, 1954, in Monett, Missouri, Bill and Jo (Gibson) were united in marriage and she preceded him in death on July 20, 2014. 








He is survived by two children, Scott (Shirley) Arkle of Joplin, Missouri and Lisa (Justin Pierce) Arkle of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Joshua (Brittany) Arkle, Emily (Austin) Lawrence, Zachary Czarnecki, Samuel Vigliaturo and Joey Vigliaturo; great grandchildren, Baylee, Bennett, James, Henry and Nora and a sister, Carol Caylor of Holden, Missouri. 

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Billy Wiley and his siblings, George, Myron ‘Mike’, Walter ‘Bud’, Evelyn and Joann. 

Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 10 am, Friday, July 7, 2023, at the Gibson Cemetery, Pastor Rex Robertson will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, from 5:30 – 7 pm.
