Dolores Watson

(From Greenfield Funeral Chapel)

Dolores Ann Watson, of Greenfield, MO, 85, gained her wings on July 5th 2023.

Dolores was born in Everton, MO on May 19th 1938 to Lester and Miriam Jarrett. She graduated from Greenfield High School, and moved to Kansas City, where she worked for Sears.

On October 6th 1957 she married Robert ”Bob” Watson in Everton, Missouri. They lived in Republic, Missouri for several years, where they were blessed with two daughters, Cheryl and Brenda. They later moved to Greenfield, Missouri and built a loving home on O Highway where they made many memories over the years.

Dolores loved being around family and friends, and there were never too many. There were many meals consisting of fried chicken and watermelon consumed around that dining room table, where most world problems were solved. Dolores loved collecting dishes of all kinds, and had a fondness for Franciscan Rose. She and Bob loved to go to auctions and buy antiques. She even once hauled a full pie safe in the back of a ‘47 Chevy. She was a very determined person, “can’t” was not in her vocabulary.

Dolores was very involved in the community. She loved attending ballgames of any type, and got such joy watching all the kids play. She had a unique gift of making everyone around her feel very special and loved. She experienced many heartaches, but her resilience and determination carried her through.

She was very fortunate to have lifelong friends that stood by her side. She enjoyed playing cards and was quite the competitor, even with her diminished vision. Dolores and Bob especially enjoyed their monthly couple get togethers, where they shared so much fun and laughter.

Dolores will be missed by her daughter, Debbie and by her grandsons, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, great- great nieces and nephews, in-laws and wonderful friends.

Although her loss is felt by many, in true Dolores fashion, she went out with a bang as fireworks exploded in the summer sky with a full moon shining through the window. We rejoice in the knowledge that she is joining her parents, siblings, children and husband of 60 plus years.

Visitation will be held at Greenfield Funeral Chapel from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday July 10th 2023. Graveside Services at Greenfield Cemetery to follow at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greenfield First Christian Church or to the Greenfield Athletic Booster Club. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
