Angela Groff

Angela Delite Copley Groff 61, beloved wife, mother and sister passed way Thursday,

August 15, 2024 in her residence in Joplin of a long term illness. She was proceeded in death by her father, Carl E. Shaw, mother, Sylvia K. Patterson, and brother, Mark R Patterson.

Angela although being born in Joplin she grew up in Webb City, Missouri. Angela went to the Webb City Schools and later spending two years at MSSU. She was baptized in the Webb City RLDS church.








Angela’s surviving relatives include her husband, John Groff, son, James Copley, daughter, Nicole’ Copley and Nicole’s significant other, Justin Barnes. Her grandchildren include; Kylee Morgan, Justin Barnes JR, and Lily Barnes. Angela was also survived by two sisters, Penny Gessler, her husband Bill Gessler and Carla Felts. Her nieces include Heather Nelson, Adrienne Gessler, and Ivella Nelson She is survived by two Nephew, Jacob Patterson and his wife, Parichat Nobpraphai, Skyler Nelson and his wife Savannah Nelson. Angela was also survived by several cousins.

Angela was a very active person. She was an exceptional cook who won first place in the Globe cooking contest two years in a row. Her winning recipes were then published in the Globe newspaper. She also published a cookbook and was a published artist. She loved to dance and ride horses. 

Angela illustrated a catalog for a ceramic company as one of her first jobs later working for Lynn’s Hallmark Shop in Joplin Missouri. After marriage she ran a daycare so she could stay at home with her children and be a PTO mother. Later, when her children were older, she taught an aerobics class and learned to sword dance. She met John Groff while working for an insurance company. We will all miss Angela’s laughter and great sense of fun. She was joy to be around. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park of Joplin, MO.
