Dortha Adams

Dortha Adams, age 88, of Webb City, Missouri passed away Tuesday August 13, 2024, following a short illness.

Dortha was born July 6, 1936 in Oronogo, Missouri to Chester and Edna (Wilson) Carey. Dortha lived in the Webb City area most of her life. She married Daniel Adams on September 24, 1954, in Oronogo, Missouri. Together they raised two daughters. Dortha was a loving wife and an amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother.








Dortha worked more than 40 years in healthcare and was the Director of Medical Records when she retired from McCune Brooks Hospital. Dortha was known for her strong work ethic, honesty and quick wit. She was an avid reader and loved cooking for family and friends. Dortha was a pillar of grace, love and strength to all who knew her.

Dortha was a devoted Christian and member of the First Baptist Church of Webb City where she was blessed with many friends.

Dortha was preceded in death by her parents, husband Daniel, four brothers, Bill Carey, Fred Carey, Bud Carey, Bob Carey, two sisters, Nellie Seeber and Alice Frew.

She is survived by two daughters, Gina Monson (Rick) Webb City, Missouri and Valerie Glaze (Oran Baker) Joplin, Missouri, one granddaughter, Stephanie Alburty (Jonathan) Joplin, Missouri, two great grandchildren, Aspen and Rowan, and chosen granddaughter, Anna Loveless (Asher) as well as numerous extended family and friends.








The family wishes to thank all the physicians, nurses and staff at Freeman Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion.

The memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Mt. Hope Cemetery open air pavilion near the Veterans’ Memorial.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory in Joplin, Missouri.
