Roger Wagner

Roger W. Wagner was born on January 8, 1953, in Joplin, Missouri, the oldest son of Chester W. and Nancy (Rentfro) Wagner. He entered into rest on August 15, 2024, in Neosho, at the age of seventy-one. 

Roger graduated from Neosho High School in 1971 and entered the U.S. Air Force. He served in the Air Force, serving in the Philippines and Taiwan, serving for twenty years, and honorably discharged as a Senior Master Staff Sergeant. 






Following his discharge from the military, he returned to the United States in 1991, moving to Leavenworth, Kansas, where he worked as a guard at the United States Penitentiary. He moved to Oswego, Kansas and then to Neosho, where he held several positions of increasing responsibility and culminating a career as Dean of Career and Vocational Education. 

In 2008, he moved to California, where accepted a position as President of Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree, California and then served as President of Victor Valley College in Victorville, California until his retirement and in 2022, returned to Neosho. Roger attended Hope City Church and enjoyed welding and woodworking. 








On July 29, 1974, in the Philippines, he married his wife, Stacy and they recently celebrated fifty years of marriage. 

In addition to his wife, Roger is survived by two sons, Adam Neil Wagner of Seattle, Washington and Kyle Wayne Wagner and wife, Daniella of Henderson, Nevada; one grandson, Elias Wayne Wagner; his father, Chester Wagner of Neosho, one sister, Jody Martin and husband, Bruce of Bradenton, Florida and one brother, David Wagner of Los Angeles, California. He is preceded in death by his mother, Nancy.

Private family services will be held.
