(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Lois Jean "Jeanie" Barnum, age 81, passed away at 6:15 pm, Friday, August 9, 2024 at Westgate at Wildwood Ranch, Joplin, Missouri following an illness.
Jeanie was born January 17, 1943. Her parents were Ansel and Wilma Breeding. She grew up in Riverton, Kansas and graduated from high school there.
She was a beautician. Before her retirement, she owned and operated Touch of Class Beauty Salon, in Joplin. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and socializing with her husband.
Jeanie married Gary L Barnum on August 6, 1980 in Riverton, KS. He preceded her in death March 8, 2024.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Aleen Venturella.
She is survived by two nieces, Brenda Maier, Overland Park, KS and Vicki Pelkey, Summerville, SC. Her family also included her husband's family comprised of three brother-in-laws, Mike Barnum, Joplin, Alan Barnum, Riverton, and Dennis Barnum (Anna), Joplin and one sister-in-law, Joyce Wentworth (Terry), Wichita, KS and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 16, 2024 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. The minister will be Herb Conley. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS.
