Moose Robinson

Jimmie Dale "Moose" Robinson, age 69 of Galena, passed away at 6:20 PM on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

Jimmie was born in Joplin, MO on November 6, 1954 to the union of Charles T. Robinson, Jr and Catherine F. (Raney) Robinson. He graduated from Gardner (KS) High School with the Class of 1973.

He served in the US Army, where he was stationed at Fort Sill and worked on many helicopters, including the Chinook, as a mechanic. 






After his military service, he worked in maintenance at several local manufacturing plants including the KS Army Ammunition Plant, Doane's, Triple T, and Orvall Kent. He also served eight years with the Galena Police Department where he earned the rank of sergeant, and as an EMT and Board Member of Cherokee County Ambulance for 28 years.

"Moose" enjoyed fishing and hunting, going to church, and teaching kids to be ornery - your kids, his kids, it didn't matter!

He was united in marriage with Sheryl A. (Cox) Robinson on May 22, 1979 in Miami, OK. She survives.

Additional survivors include one daughter, Shantel Robinson of the home; one grandson, SGT Logan T. Robinson, US Army (wife, Kyndall) of Savannah, GA; a soon-to-be-born great-granddaughter, Josie Faye Robinson; one brother, Carl Robinson (wife, Brenda) of Powell, MO; one sister, Nancy Hubbell (husband, David) of Odenton, MD; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Robinson of Rantoul, KS.








He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Catherine; and one brother, Steve Robinson.

Mr. Robinson has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. The family will host a Celebration of Life at Spring Grove Church at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
