Steve Saia

Steven “Steve” P. Saia, 68, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Frontenac, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the Solace House in Joplin, following a short illness.

Steve was born on June 16, 1956, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He had resided for the past 13 years in Joplin; however, most of his life he resided in Frontenac, Kansas. He was an engineer for the Kansas City Southern and Missouri Northern Arkansas (MNA) Railroads for many years before retiring. He was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed going to Casinos, playing pool, fishing, he enjoyed watching YouTube videos, enjoyed traveling with his wife, and in previous years was a scuba diver.








He married Linda VanBuskirk on October 26, 1987, in Pittsburg, Kansas and she survives.

Other survivors include; one son, Matthew Dutton of Pittsburg, Kansas and one daughter, Lindsay (Mike Burney) Altheide of Joplin, Missouri; two brothers, David (Carolyn Wood) Saia of Arma, Kansas and Scott (Cheryl) Saia of Joplin, Missouri; two sisters, Shari Saia of Girard, Kansas and Mona (John) Miller of Topeka, Kansas; Nine Grandchildren, Brittney (Devin) Linn, Jeremy Dutton, Dylan Altheide, Peyton Altheide, Remi Dutton, Jace Dutton, Easton Burney, Jake Burney, and Harper Burney.






He was preceded in death by his parents; Philip and Marilyn Bavaro Saia; one brother, Vincent Saia; and one Grandchild, Dawson Linn.

Per his wishes Steve will be cremated with a Celebration of Life held at a later date.

Services have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory in Joplin, Missouri.
