Margie Messenger

Margie F. Bowman-Messenger, known affectionately as Margie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully after a short illness on August 7, 2024, in Corona, California. Born on April 25, 1940, in Joplin, Missouri, Margie's life was a testament to the power of love, generosity, and gentleness.

Margie grew up in the heart of Joplin, where she attended Joplin High School and laid the foundations for a life full of learning and service. After graduation, she embarked on a career in retail, bringing warmth and dedication to her roles at Sears Department Store and Walker Scott/ May Company. 






Her work ethic and friendly demeanor made her a beloved figure among colleagues and customers alike. Margie's commitment to her work was matched only by her commitment to her family, and she made the decision to retire early in life to focus on her role as a mother, wife, and friend.

Those who knew Margie will remember her as the epitome of loving kindness. She was a beacon of generosity in her community, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her gentle spirit and unwavering support were the cornerstones upon which her family was built. Margie's legacy is carried on by her two sons, Doug Bowman and his wife Becky, and Kenneth Bowman and his wife Laura, all of Corona, CA. She also leaves behind her sister, Thelma Koval of Joplin, as well as several extended family members and a host of friends who were blessed to know her.

Margie married Jim Bowman in 1959 and he passed in 1997. Later, Margie married Rusty Messenger in 2012 and he passed in 2017.








Additionally, Margie is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Pearl (Oldfield) Bailey-Morley; step-father, Stanley Morley; brothers, Howard, George, Bob and Harry Bailey (infant); sister, Helen Yust.

Funeral arrangements are planned for Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri, with burial to follow at Osborne Cemetery in Joplin.
