Barbara Ellis

Barbara A. Ellis, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at her home in Stotts City, MO with her husband by her side. 

She was born in Carthage, MO on Monday, March 24, 1947; daughter of Leon and Betty (Huffman) Aleshire. Barbara was a 1965 graduate of Ashdown High School in Arkansas. 

She married John Ellis on Friday, November 21, 1969, in Joplin, MO. She enjoyed traveling and liked to drive. 






Barbara moved many times as a child and enjoyed seeing the country. She loved working outside and helped her Dad when he was building houses or her husband with heavy equipment and learned to be "handy". She enjoyed crosswords and jigsaw puzzles. She worked at a dry cleaners in Arkansas, substitute taught and worked at a restaurant for a while. She loved to help others and was a caretaker. 

Barbara loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar, organ, and accordion. She taught herself how to play several instruments. She was often John's right hand and helped and supported him with whatever he was doing. Barbara always focused on making the house a home and did what needed to be done. She stayed at home while raising her daughter, Kathy, and they did many things as a family making memories and supporting one another. She will be missed!

Surviving are the following: her husband John of Stotts City, MO; a daughter, Kathy (Harold) Feith of Buckner, MO; two grandsons, Zachary (Adeline) Feith of Clever, MO and Matthew Feith of Tulsa, OK; a sister, Shirley Huff of Joplin, MO; and many friends.








Those welcoming her to heaven include her parents, Leon and Betty Aleshire; a brother-in-law, John Huff; and two nephews, Steven and Robert Huff.

Graveside services will be at Union Cemetery in Stotts City, MO on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, beginning at 1:00 PM with Pastor Larry Herndon officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO.
