Shirley McClure

Shirley Ann McClure, age 79, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 28, 2024, peacefully at home. She was born January 15, 1945 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Betty (Burgess) Phillips and Eugene Phillips.

When Shirley was weeks old, her family moved to Arkansas for a brief time before settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There, she attended Edison Schools until she married the love of her life, Clayton, in July 1961. They moved to Claremore where they raised their family and owned McClure Nursery, which they ran for many years before moving to Lenepah to raise cattle. They retired to Grove in 2008. 

Shirley had a green thumb and could nurse any plant back to life. She loved gardening, finding yard sale bargains, and sharing with her grandchildren how much she loved their Papa. We will miss her dearly and she will forever be in our hearts.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; her parents, and her brother, Robert “Bobby” Philips.

She is survived by her daughter, Loretta Williams of Claremore; three grandchildren, Candice Conger (Justin) of Claremore, Rodney Barbee of Lamar, Missouri, and Allison Reinking of Tulsa; seven great-grandchildren, Nathan, Robert, Justice, Makaela, Ryan, Isabella, and Lindsey; two sisters, Mary Lou Vaughn and Margaret McBrayer; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Shirley’s family had a Private Celebration of Life Burial on Friday, 10:00am, August 2, 2024 at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Grove, OK.
