Ileen Marble

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Ileen Marble was born on May 29, 1939, in El Dorado, Kansas, to Davie Andrew and Helen Elizabeth (Nace) Carter. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 15, 2024, in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 85.

Ileen graduated from East Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She moved to the SW Missouri area as a young adult and worked as an administrative assistant at the Soil Conservation Service, South School, and Sweetwater Baptist Church until her retirement in June of 2021.

Ileen loved to cook and bake. Everyone knew NeNe’s food was the best! Additionally, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, gardening, and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball. She was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church and the Sweetwater Sisters’ Bible Study Group.

On June 12, 1958, Ileen and Jerry Marble were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Neosho. He preceded her in death in 2014. Also preceding her in death were her parents in 1991, her daughter-in-law Penny Parbst Marble in 2013, and her grandson Christopher Marble in 2021.

Ileen is survived by two children, Mike Marble and wife, Rhonda of Collinsville, Oklahoma and Laura Watkins and husband, David of Neosho; grandchildren, Tiffany Khodabakhsh and husband, Kody, Jesse Miller and wife, Kailey, Joy Marble, Andrew Watkins, and granddaughter-in-law Vivian Marble; great-grandchildren, Mikey Khodabakhsh, River Khodabakhsh, and one due to arrive in March of 2025; one sister, Loretta Russell of Neosho; three sisters-in-law, Gywn Boyer of Neosho, Nancy Virgin and husband, Oscar of Neosho, and Mickey Mahan and husband, Dick of Bentonville, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews; scores of spiritual brothers, sisters, sons and daughters; and too many friends to count.
