Dick Lett

Brothers and sisters, we gather today to celebrate the homecoming of a man who was a pillar of strength, a beacon of light, and a true servant of the Lord. Richard Alton Lett, affectionately known to us as Dick, completed his earthly journey and entered into eternal rest on the 4th of October in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-four. 

Born under the golden California sun in Oakdale on the 16th of November, 1950, Dick was a man who carried the warmth of that sun in his heart, radiating joy and love to all who had the privilege to know him.

Our beloved brother in Christ was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Pamela Sue, for fifty-three blessed years. Together, they built a life filled with faith, love, and laughter. Their union was a testament to the power of partnership and the grace of God's love. Dick was a father who raised his children, Adam, Myra, and Nick, with a strong moral compass and a gentle guiding hand. Alongside their respective spouses, Patty, Jeremy, Leigh and Jana, they created a legacy of love that will surely transcend generations.

The Lett family tree flourished under Dick's nurturing care, with grandchildren Ethan, Hayden, Skylar, Shayla, Sasha, Hailey, Brianna, Kiloh, and Joshua, each of whom he cherished with the entirety of his generous heart. The joy of his life was further multiplied by the laughter of his great-grandchildren Sullivan, MacKinzly, Jonah, Sawyer, Elliot, and Scarlet Rose, who will grow up hearing tales of their great-grandfather's kindness and wisdom.

Dick was preceded in glory by his mother, Ethel Lett, father, Jack Lett, sisters, Barbara Tebow, and her twin Jackie Lett. He is survived by his brother, Harry P. Lett.

For 37 years, Dick shepherded the flock of the Church of Christ in Noel, Missouri, where his ministry was characterized by an unwavering commitment to the Gospel and a deep compassion for his congregation. His sermons, filled with the Holy Spirit, touched countless souls and led many to the path of righteousness. Dick's labor for the Lord was not confined to the pulpit; he embodied the scripture, "faith without works is dead," and lived his life as a testament to this truth.

In parallel with his spiritual vocation, Dick served as the Maintenance Manager at Simmons in Southwest City, Missouri, for 47 years. His dedication and work ethic were an inspiration, and his camaraderie with his colleagues was a source of joy in the workplace. His influence extended beyond the walls of the church and the boundaries of the factory, leaving an indelible mark on the community he so dearly loved.

As we bid farewell to our beloved Dick, let us not dwell in the valley of sorrow but rather climb the mountain of gratitude for the time we were blessed to share with him. His life was a journey of faith, a testament to the power of God's love working through one man. He walked humbly, loved fiercely, and left this world a better place than he found it.

Funeral service for Dick will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the Church of Christ in Noel, MO. Burial will follow the service in the Southwest City Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Adam Lett, Nick Lett, Ethan Lett, Hayden Lett, Skylar Lett and Jeremy Herrington. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Southwest City Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes on Thursday October 10, 2024, the family will receive friends at this time.

We are comforted by the promise of our faith that Dick has been welcomed into the arms of our Savior, where he will rest in peace and joy for eternity. May his memory be for a blessing, and may we all strive to live by the example he set forth – one of integrity, generosity, and unwavering faith.

We will forever hold Richard Alton Lett in our hearts, until that glorious day when we shall meet again on those golden streets of Heaven. Amen.
