(From Clark Funeral Home)Barbara Jean Rice was born on August 29, 1932, in Newton County, Missouri and entered into rest on October 6, 2024, in Neosho, at the age of 92. Barbara was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Neosho High School, class of 1951.
Following her high school graduation, Barbara began a career in banking that lasted over twenty-seven years. Following her banking career, she worked for Missouri State Highway Department in the office until retiring in 1999.
Barbara and Donald Rice were married on April 19, 1953, and he preceded her in death on May 12, 2015.
Barbara is survived by one son, Gary Rice and wife, Nancy of Neosho; three grandchildren, Matt Rice and wife, Lisa, Heather Vance and husband, Wayne and Allen Schmidt and wife, Kim; great grandchildren, Emily, Conner, Hayley, Emily, Shelby, Lindsey, Dakota, Briley, Kylee, Katelyn, Emma and Sam; great great grandchildren, Raelynn, Addy, Hendrix, Willow, Kimber and Josie and one brother, David Johnson and wife, Sharon. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Bill and Harold Johnson: half-brother, Bo Garrison and half-sister, Eula Jobe.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11 am at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Pastor Ken Robinson will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 am until service time. Interment will follow in the Gibson Cemetery.
