Gene McCracken

Roy “Gene” McCracken, age 79, of Springfield, Missouri passed away Monday, October 7, 2024 in his home in Springfield Missouri under the care of Cox Springfield Health Hospice Unit.

He was born August 9, 1945 in Wheaton, Missouri the son of Lee Roy and Estoline Louise (Harader) McCracken, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were one brother, Richard and two sisters, Mary and Tresa.








Surviving are his two children, daughter, Tammy Landoll and her husband James of Pierce City, Missouri and son, Tim McCracken and his wife Heidi of Rocky Comfort, Missouri; two brothers, Joe McCracken and his wife Eva of Coos Bay, Oregon and Jack McCracken and his wife Carissa of Shell Knob, Missouri; four sisters, Sue Wilkens of Wheaton, Missouri, Judy Osborne and her husband Tom of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Ginger Poe and her husband Randy of Rocky Comfort, Missouri and Jackie Carpenter and her husband Jack of Washburn, Missouri; five grandchildren, TJ McCracken, Tiffany Mercer, Kevin McCracken, Kelli Roberts, and Kayla Wright and several great grandchildren.

Gene graduated from Wheaton High School in 1963. After graduating, he was employed by Kraft Foods Inc. in Wheaton, Missouri. Gene hauled both canned and bulk milk for several years. Later, he owned and operated Save-A-Lot Store in Monett, Missouri. Gene later moved to Springfield, Missouri which he called home and where he was self-employed for the last several years. He loved to dance and play card games with friends and family. He loved his family and friends dearly.







Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 14, 2024 at Muncie Chapel Cemetery in Wheaton, Missouri, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Paul Wahlert will conduct the services.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Monday at Wheaton Southern Baptist Church in Wheaton, Missouri.

Contributions may be made to Muncie Chapel Cemetery Association in memory of Gene.
