Suzanne Sersun

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Suzanne Joy (Roragen) Sersun, age 61, of Albuquerque, NM, made her triumphant journey to everlasting life on Sunday, October 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 2, 1963, in Fort Worth, TX, Suzanne was the beloved daughter of Ervin Roragen and Audrey (Chapman) Douglas. Her life was defined by passion, elegance, and unwavering faith. Suzanne embraced every moment with zeal and filled her days with the things she loved most.

An adventure-seeker and insatiable world traveler, she reveled in the grandeur of life’s adventures and appreciated its finer pleasures. A lifelong horse-lover, she recently took a position on the Board of Directors for BixRo Horse Haven, a non-profit organized to rescue horses. Suzanne was an accomplished author, recently publishing her memoir, Unconditional: How a Mother’s Love Rescued Her Rebellious Son. A talented skier, she pursued every challenge with grace, including her latest venture into fly-fishing and golf—activities inspired by the two men she cherished most.

More than her accomplishments, Suzanne’s legacy was her ability to inspire others to be their best selves. Her deep faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life, guiding her every step and radiating love to all who knew her. Of all her joys, her greatest was her beloved son, Nick, whom she considered her most precious blessing.

On February 11, 1998, Suzanne married her beloved husband, Ken Sersun, with whom she shared many years of cherished love. She is survived by Ken, their son Nick, her mother Audrey Douglas, her sisters Cindy Roragen and Bonnie Kingore, and her brother David Roragen. She was preceded in death by her father, Ervin Roragen.

A celebration of Suzanne’s extraordinary life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin, MO, followed by burial at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to BixRo Horse Rescue at www.bixrohorsehaven.org, in honor of Suzanne’s love for horses and her dedication to animal welfare.

Suzanne’s vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her, continuing to inspire those she touched.
