Janice Michael

(From Ulmer Funeral Home)

Janice Michael, age 88, of Carthage, Missouri, went to join her Lord and Savior on June 21, 2026, with her daughters around her. Janice was born in Besoco, West Virginia, to Paul and Virginia Boothe. The family later moved to El Paso, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Harold Michael, who was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. They were married on base in 1955 and moved to Harold’s hometown of Carthage to build their life of 59 years together. They were blessed with four daughters.

Janice was an amazing wife, mother, and Nana. She lovingly dedicated herself to her family and always extended a warm welcome to all who visited their home. She and Harold were soulmates and life partners working together as they built houses, raised cattle and ran a farm for several years.

Janice had many talents and interests. She worked as a hostess and supervisor at Sirloin House and enjoyed driving a bus for Carthage R-9 schools. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, and a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church for many years. Janice loved Crappie fishing and often out fished her husband. Her hobbies included painting and gardening, and she was a great cook. Janice loved all types of music and had a beautiful alto voice. She always participated in church choir, a gospel quartet, and Sweet Adelines. She could play piano by ear and played the spoons. Above all, Janice was a faithful servant of the Lord. She exemplified the love of Jesus and extended it to everyone. She touched many hearts with her sweet, caring, unselfish disposition.

Janice is survived by daughters, Vicki Cash (John), Peggy Feather, and Sally Lee (Jeff); grandchildren, John Lovette, Regie Feather, Randy Feather, Lindsay Lee, and Ben Lee; six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister, Brenda Wittig; and many nieces and nephews.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Susan Lovette; her brother, Lenwood Boothe; and her son-in-law, Conrad Feather.

The family extends sincere gratitude to Trinity Hospice, Oak Pointe staff and our dear friends and caregivers, Tegan Byassee, Virginia Croston, April Lybarger, and Karla Cole.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. A visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, American Diabetes Association, or Carthage Humane Society in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
