Ricky Harris

Ricky Gene Harris, age 74, passed away on June 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 4, 1951, and lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to his family, and kindness toward others.

Ricky was a gifted carpenter who took great pride in his craftsmanship and the ability to create and build with his hands. He dedicated 25 years of service to Tyson Foods, where he earned the respect of his coworkers through his strong work ethic, dependability, and dedication.








On September 2, 1972, Ricky married the love of his life, Marsha Harris. Together they shared more than five decades of love, commitment, and cherished memories. Their marriage was built on a foundation of faithfulness, partnership, and unwavering devotion to one another.

Family was the center of Ricky's life. He especially enjoyed teaching his grandchildren carpentry skills, passing along his knowledge and love for working with his hands. He could often be found cheering from the sidelines as they participated in recreational sports, proudly supporting their accomplishments and encouraging them every step of the way. Ricky also loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, which brought him both joy and peace.

Ricky was a caring and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Marsha Harris; his daughters, Jennifer Harris and Jessica Velten; his son-in-law, Jared Velten; his cherished grandchildren, Emma Velten, Ricky Velten, and Hayden Velten; his sister, Linda Ramsey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mildred Harris; his brothers, Bobby Harris, Jackie Harris, and J.R. Harris; his brothers-in-law, Larry Ramsey and Mike Springer; his sister-in-law, Linda Harris; his father-in-law, W.C. Haskins; and his mother-in-law, Shirley Haskins.








Those who knew Ricky will remember his gentle spirit, his willingness to help anyone in need, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His wisdom, strength, and caring nature touched the lives of many and will never be forgotten.

While his family mourns his passing, they also celebrate a life well lived and a man who left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family will continue through the generations he so dearly loved.

Ricky Gene Harris will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

Visitation will be held from 6 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Buchanan Funeral Home. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2026, at Buchanan Funeral Home. Gary Cook officiating. Inurnment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home.
