Jack Allman

Dr. Jack Allman, 90, a Neosho resident and retired school superintendent, passed away peacefully at Freeman Neosho Hospital on March 2, 2018, after having experienced long-term congestive heart failure. He was born in Joplin, MO, on July 26, 1927, the son of the late Charles A. Allman, Sr. and Helen Giesecke Allman

He graduated from the Anderson, MO High School in 1945, and joined the Navy immediately afterwards, receiving his honorable discharge in 1946. He attended Drury College for one year, and then completed a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951 at SMSC. He received a Master’s Degree from the University of Arkansas in 1953, and later returned there to complete an Ed.D in 1976.

He taught school for one year each at Anderson High School and at the high school in Raymore-Peculiar. His careers as Missouri school superintendent included Iberia, Sarcoxie, El Dorado Springs, Odessa, Joplin (13 years), Ava, and McDonald County. He was also Superintendent of Schools at the American Community School (Lincoln) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which is associated with the U.S. Department of State. In addition, the school serves as a liaison for the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires.

In 1947, he married Polly Ann Marney. They divorced after over 29 years of marriage. She preceded him in death in 1997. In 1977, he married Ann Lowrance Hamilton who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jim Allman, Jeff Allman and wife Maxine, and three stepsons, Scott Hamilton, David Hamilton and wife Jan, and Dennis Hamilton. Grandchildren are Tracy Allman, Ben Allman, Sam Allman and wife Abigail, plus Dale Hamilton, Kurt Hamilton, Boone Hamilton, Cody Hamilton and wife Mariana. Also surviving are his nephew Fred Allman and wife Kathi and their three children, Madison, Casey, and Juliana.

Preceding him in death were his son John and John’s oldest daughter Kelly, his brother Charles A. Allman, Jr. and wife Margaret, cousins Lawrence and Mary Margaret Pippin, Jim Pippin, and Ann’s sister, Janet Lowrance Hamilton.
