Shirley Holdeman

Shirley E. Frickenschmidt-Holdeman, 92, Carthage, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage after a lengthy illness. Shirley Evalyn Ritchey was born August 14, 1925 in Ellensburg, Washington; a daughter of the late Samuel R. Ritchey and Shirley Milliken Ritchey. She was a graduate of Thorpe High School, Thorpe, WA and attended Aptby Business College in Seattle, WA. She married Elmer Frickenschmidt on December 14,1944, he preceded her in death September 1, 1993; she married Bill Holdeman on December 29, 2001; he preceded her in death on October 20, 2017. Shirley was a secretary for Rader Insurance and Real Estate Lamar, MO, she also was a secretary for the MO Department of Mental Health in Joplin, MO. Shirley and Elmer had a dairy farm northeast of Carthage. This is where their four children grew up. She was a member of the Fairview Christian Church, Carthage.

Survivors include three daughters; Anita (Noel) Cotton, Maryville, TN, Becky Parmele, Joplin, MO and Mary Cole, Carthage, MO; two sons, Larry (Lois) Frickenschmidt, Springfield, MO and Karl (Shannon) Frickenschmidt, Liberty, MO; three sisters, Glenna (Don) Wehmeyer, Seattle, WA, Sylvia (Bill) Ellis, Round Rock, TX and Crystal (David) Mitchell, Vancouver, WA; 12 grandchildren, Col. Daniel (Sara) Frickenschmidt, Jamie (Patrick) Chapman, Amanda (Ryan) Grimes, Justin (Halie) Cotton, Jarrod, Kaleb, and Kyla Frickenschmidt, Nicole (Chris) Dye, Eric (Kristin) Clark, Jon (Jessica) Wilson, Marie (Brian) Steinback and Laura (Jason) Hankins; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Carl Ritchey and two grandchildren, Tristan Umbarger and Chloe Farris.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Friday, April 27, 2018 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Minister John Mouton will officiate. Interment will be in Fasken Cemetery, NE of Carthage, MO. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Fairview Christian Church, Carthage.
