Velma Wilson

Velma Jean Wilson, 88, Wheaton, entered into rest on April 26, 2018 at Freeman West Hospital, following an extended illness. 

 Velma was born March 19, 1930 in Audubon, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Laura (Mueller) Macumber. She moved with her family to El Reno, OK at the age of 5 and moved to Missouri at the age of 14. She graduated from Stella High School in 1948 and was valedictorian. In 1960, she relocated to Washington State and then returned to Missouri in 1960. Velma owned and operated restaurants from 1960 until retiring at the age of 85 in 2015. When not working, she enjoyed reading, crocheting and dancing. 

 Velma and Darrell Wilson were married in 1948 and he preceded her in death in 1974. She is survived by three children, Cathy Cook and husband, Ernie of Stella; Robert Wilson and wife, Patty of Fairview and Larry Joe Wilson and wife, Gloria of Fairview; ten grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Opal; three brothers, Glen, Lester and Cal and a daughter in law, Sarah Wilson.

Services will be Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 2 pm at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Dayton Brattin will officiate. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Ray Wilson, Bryan Smith, Chris Cook, Justin Wilson, Tim McCracken and Corey Farrell. The family will receive friends Monday evening at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
