Mrs. Vicki Jo Babbitt, 75, of Pineville, Missouri, departed this life on Monday morning, April 9, 2018, in the comfort of her home after months of declining health.
Vicki began her earthly journey on December 27, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, the only child born to the union of the late Victor Lee and Billi Jo (Houser) Rhine. She was raised in Pineville, Missouri and was a 1960 graduate of Anderson High School. She furthered her education at Pittsburg State University earning her Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught school in Kansas City and would spend her weekends and summers assisting her parents in the operation of the family business, McDonald County Telephone.
While in Kansas City she met Ross Babbitt and on December 25, 1975 at the Pineville Christian Church they were married. In June of 1990, she and Ross officially moved to Pineville, taking an active role in the daily operation of the business, eventually assuming full ownership after the passing of her parents. She was a member of the Pineville Christian Church, McDonald County Historical Society, Crowder Foundation, Neosho Humane Society, McDonald County Chamber of Commerce and the Missouri Telephone Industry Association. Vicki was recognized and awarded on numerous occasions for her involvement and support of countless area organizations. She loved spoiling he grandchildren and was always attending their activities. She enjoyed helping her community, the Chuck Wagon Gang, traveling, fishing, deer hunting, scuba diving, game shows, casinos and simply being in charge.
Vicki is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Ross Babbitt of the home; two children, Aaron Gent and wife, Liz, of Pineville, Missouri and Ruth Roessler and husband, Chris, also of Pineville; and nine grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Cameron, Sierra, Oakley, Riley, Parker, Brodie and Eli.
Funeral services for Mrs. Babbitt are 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at the Pineville Christian Church with Pastor Gary Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Pineville Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Todd Clay, Ryan Lewis, Roy MIlleson, Mike Deckard, Jack Rickett and Cody Deckard with Calvin Herrin, Brian Mitchell, Jay Mitchell and Jim Cox serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 4-8:00 p.m. in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers memorial are being directed to the Vicki Jo Babbitt Charitable Contribution Fund c/o the funeral home.
