Carolyn Buche

Carolyn Merle Buche, 83, of Pittsburg, KS, died Saturday April 28, 2018, at Via Christi Hospital.

She was born August 7, 1934, in Pittsburg, KS, to Merle O. Buckley and Zula (McKee) Buckley. She attended Pittsburg schools, graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1952. She then graduated from Kansas State Teaching College, now PSU, with a degree in Elementary Education.

On June 25, 1957, she was united in marriage to James D. Buche at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg.

Carolyn's greatest impact was demonstrated by her efforts in furthering the success and happiness of her family. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, a past member of Mount Caramel Auxiliary, a devoted participant of Perpetual Adoration, and a past volunteer at the Wesley House. She enjoyed playing cards and meeting with her monthly bridge club. Carolyn was an avid reader and even wrote a number of children's books that she shared with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Some of Carolyn's fondest memories came from the times when she and Jim took their family on cruises--- celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, turning "Almost 80", and commemorating their 60th wedding anniversary.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Jim, children: Steve (Michele) of Kansas City, KS, Nancy (Jim) Evans of Pittsburg, Cathy (Dean) Brazier of Birmingham, AL, Paul (Tammy) of Pittsburg, Mary (David) Ukena of Springfield, MO, grandchildren: David Evans of Webb City, MO, Father Joshua Evans of Wichita, KS, Katie (Colby) Childs of Littleton, CO, Alex (Taylor) Evans of Frontenac, Taylor Brazier of Birmingham, AL, Caroline Ukena (Fiancé Brandon Bowenschulte), Courtney Ukena, and Neal Ukena all of Springfield, MO, and Jeremiah Buche of Pittsburg, great grandchildren: Amyx Evans of Frontenac and Addison Childs of Littleton, CO, sister: Joan Wilbert of Pittsburg, sister-in-law: Ann (Buche) Conroy, of Waukegan, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, son David Joseph Buche, brothers-in-law Mel Wilbert and Bill Buche.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 1, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Joshua Evans as celebrant. The parish rosary will be at 7 pm Monday, April 30, at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home where the family will receive friends following the rosary. Inurnment will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg, KS.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation in care of the funeral home. Friends may also leave condolences online at our web site www.bathnaylor.com.
