Debra Jean Smith, age 62, Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
She was born on September 21, 1955 in St. John’s Hospital, Joplin, the daughter of James Owen and Betty Moss Hughes. Debra was a homemaker. She married Willard J. “Sonny” Smith, Jr in Joplin on June 17, 1988. Sonny preceded her in death June 3, 2017. Along with her parents, Debra is also preceded in death by one son, James Clinton Hunt.
Debra is survived by two sons; Joseph Byron Whistler (Levana Grace) of Tyler, Texas and Sheldon Michael Hunt of Joplin; four grandchildren, Alyvia and Natalie Hunt and Eliana Raine and Roman Lee Welch; two sisters, Leanna C. Garrison (Douglas W. Garrison) of Columbia, Missouri and Jamea A. Banfield (Richard Banfield) of Joplin; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are planned for Saturday, April 14th at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Ron Whistler officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
