Paul H. McCoy, 82, gained his wings Friday, April 13, 2018. Paul was born in Carthage, MO January 9, 1936 to Lorraine “Taylor” Good and Ralph W. McCoy.
Paul was a lifetime resident of Carthage and graduated from Carthage High School, Class of 1955. He served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1959 and served in the 203rd Engineer Battalion of Carthage. He was a machinist at H.E. Williams for 39 years, a crossing guard at Mark Twain School for several years and served on the Carthage City Council.
Paul was a gentle man who loved with all his heart, always a kid at heart and a true Boy Scout Leader and Commissioner for Carthage Troup 9. He spent countless hours as coach and mentor to many.
Paul was united in marriage to Margaret “Bishop” on May 31, 1958; she survives.
Paul is also survived by three children, Ella McCoy, Randy McCoy (Terry), Paul A. McCoy (Gayle), all of Carthage; nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous others he claimed, along with many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Raymond and Jimmy McCoy.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Ulmer Funeral Home.
