Narvellia Sink

Narvellia Ima (VanSlyke) Sink, Neosho, passed peacefully in her sleep on April 21, 2018 at the age of 96 years, 11 months, and 22 days. 

 Born April 30, 1921 in the Puckett Community, McDonald County, MO to Harvey and Lillie (Guinn) Frisbee, Narvellia was a lifelong area resident. She was a retired aerobics instructor, a homemaker and an avid Cardinals fan. Narvellia was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church. 

She married Leonard “Blackie” VanSlyke on Sept. 2, 1939; he preceded her in death on March 11, 1971. She then married George C. Sink on June 18, 1985. George preceded her in death on Aug 21, 1999. Narvellia had four children: Sanford VanSlyke, and wife, Janell of Neosho; Rex VanSlyke, deceased, Rex’s wife, Maxine of Leonard, TX survives; Diane VanSlyke, deceased; and Debbie Neighbor and husband, Grover of Springdale, AR; 13 grandchildren: Mark, Penny, Tim, Terry, Adam, Beth, Julie, Jennifer, Jacob, Sara, Renee, Heather, and Travis; 18 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. Narvellia was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Grace and a granddaughter in law, Jane VanSlyke.

Services will be held 1:30 pm on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho, with Dennis Bergen officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery, with Mark VanSlyke, Dakota VanSlyke, Stan Hayward, Colton Spencer, Tim Farley, and Cody Farley serving as pallbearers. Visitation will begin at 1:00 on Wednesday, prior to services.

The family has request contributions in Narvellia’s honor be made to Newton County Cancer Council, c/o Clark Funeral Homes, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
