Arthur Lee Sprouse, Sr., age 86, Joplin, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 at his home with family at his side.
Art was born September 10, 1931 in Joplin, son of the late Ola Lee and Ollie Mae Bradshaw Sprouse. He grew up in Joplin, and attended Joplin Schools. He served in the United States Army after school, and returned to Joplin to get his education in welding at Franklin Tech. He worked as a welder all his adult life, and retired from Able Body of Joplin. He was also a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Arthur L. Sprouse, Jr., and a sister, Betty Severs.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Sharon Malone Sprouse; his children, Marlene Iman and husband Butch of Carl Junction, Laurie Winters and husband Grant of Joplin, Scott Sprouse and wife Vicky of St. Louis, Missouri, Amy Hackney and husband Bob of Carl Junction, Andy Sprouse and wife Sheila of St. Louis; 15 grandchildren, Blake, Lindsay, Arthur III, "Duke", Jessica, Chuck, Jared, Jesse, Emily, Britni, Sean, Macyn, Craig, James, Nate, Seth, and Chris; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Sprouse and wife Betty of Carl Junction; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Father J. Friedel officiating. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Life Choices, or the St. Peter's Outreach House.
