Delera Vinson

Delera I. Vinson, 91 of Nevada passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada with her family at her side. 

Delera was born May 11, 1926 in Fort Payne, Alabama to William P. and Nina M. (Croft) Howard. She attended DeKalb County Schools. She married James F. Vinson on October 23, 1945 in Fort Payne, Alabama and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1978.

Delera along with her husband moved to Golden City in 1945 where she raised her family until moving to Nevada in 1973. She has continued to reside here since that time. Delera worked at a sock factory in Ft. Payne, Alabama, Nevada State Hospital in Nevada, and then for 22 years at Moore-Few Care Center also in Nevada. She then donated her time as a volunteer at the Nevada City Hospital.

Survivors include two sons, Donald LaRay Vinson, Lamar, MO, James Robert Vinson, Lamar, Mo; two daughters, Wanda Joyce Hunt (Lloyd), Nevada, and Carol Sue Smith, Nevada; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband in 1978; two daughters, Marsha Burris in 2009, and Patricia Schmoranz in 1994; one granddaughter, Brittany Burris in 2017; one grandson, Michael Ray Hunt in 1993; one great-grandson, Draven Leemasters; five brothers, Charles, Marvin, Chester, Winston, Ozell; three sisters, Dovie, Minnie, and Bertha.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Dennis Engelbrecht officiating. Interment will follow in Golden City I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Golden City, MO. The family will receive friends from 11-1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
