Richard L. Brock, age 78, of Joplin, passed away on Friday April 27, 2018, at Freeman Hospital, following an illness.
Richard was born on July 15, 1939 in Duenweg, Mo., the son of the late Gerald L. and Vera May (Gilliam) Brock. He has been a lifelong area resident. He served in the United States Navy. He worked as a warehouseman for Atlas Powder Company for thirty-six years. He was a Baptist. He was a member of the NRA and a gun collector. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling.
He married Peggy Gunlock on March 17, 1961 in Joplin, and she survives. He is also survived by three sons, Steven Brock and partner Monty Deckard, Springfield, Mo., Jim Brock and wife Sheila, Joplin, and Mark Brock and wife Connie, Hiwassee, Ar.; one brother, Robert Brock, Diamond, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Blake Brock, Jameson Brock, Mickenzie Brock, C.J. Barwick, Austin Brock, Dillion Brock, and Matthew Brock; and two great-grandchildren, Kain Brock and Amoretti Brock.
Richard will be cremated with private family services to be held.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
