Joyce Joann Canady, age 68, passed away at 5:34 pm, Thursday, April 25, 2018 at Mercy Hospital Joplin, MO following a long illness.
Joyce was born August 4, 1949 in Joplin, MO. Her parents were Ferdie and Lola (Adamson) Cusick. She had lived in Galena most of her life, moving from Joplin at the age of 12.
She began working a Celltron in Galena as one of their first employees and continued working there until her retirement in 2002 as a supervisor. She enjoyed going to yard sales, fishing, and horseback riding, but her greatest joy was being with her grandsons, and great-grandkids.
Joyce was married to James Alvin Canady on July 11, 1964 in Joplin, MO. He survives.
Additional survivors include two grandsons, James Canady and Jason Canady; four great-grandchildren, Cayce Canady, Allie Canady, Jalyn Canady, and Kyler Canady; one brother, Carl Cusick (wife, Kathy), Joplin; and six sisters, Patricia Torix (husband, Bob), Joplin, Karen Richey (husband, Jerry), Galena, Diana Douglas (husband, Gary) Joplin, Darlene Schrader (husband, Neal), Joplin, Dorothy Bigley, Carterville, MO, and Wanda McBride, (husband, Bob), Grove, OK.
She was preceded in death by her three sons, James Canady, Brian Canady, and Dwight Canady.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, April 30, 2018 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS. Pastor Josh Pennington will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 pm, Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
