James Earl 'Billy' Miller, age 71, Lanagan, passed away at 6:04 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Freeman Hospital in Neosho.
Billy was born April 5, 1947 in Joplin to the late James F. Miller, Jr. and Margie M. Carroll Miller and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.
Billy worked in maintenance for Bagcraft, Inc. for several years and also for the Avilla School District for several years. He enjoyed metal working, attending auctions, playing bingo, going to the local casinos and spending time with his family. Billy volunteered with Souls Harbor, where he did mission work in Mexico. Billy was a faithful member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #95, Joplin.
Survivors include his children, Theda Marie Miller-Holland, Neosho, Theresa Hood and husband, Charles, Joplin, Michelle Miller, Lanagan, David Miller, Lanagan, Theresa Sue Lacock; siblings, Johnny Miller and wife, Patty, Webb City, LaDonna Kay Gubitz and husband, Dan, St. Louis; grandchildren, Christopher Hood, Johnathan Hood, Mathew Hood, Mason Moots, Jessica Moots, Nelisha Moots; and one great grandchild, Rynor Hood.
Services are planned for Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Jeff D. Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until service time.
