Bobby D. “Bob” Blythe, age 90, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born September 14, 1927 in Cato, Missouri the son of George T. and Olivia (Bradley) Blythe. On March 6, 1954 he was united in marriage to Vera Harris, who preceded him in death on August 10, 2008. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Curtina Autrey; a son-in-law, Russel May, one brother, John Blythe and a half-brother, Wayne Blythe.
Surviving are two daughters, Cathy May of Cassville, Missouri and Karen Allen and her husband, Greg of Cassville, Missouri; a son-in-law, Tom Autrey of Cassville, Missouri; one sister, Maetta Coones of Cassville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, John May, Bob May, Mary May, Ben Autrey, Olivia Autrey, Mary Beth Mullins and Sarah Allen and eleven great grandchildren.
Bob grew up in Cato where he received his elementary education and then graduated from Cassville High School in 1944. He received his bachelor degree from SMS in Springfield and master degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, graduating Magna Cum Laude. During the Korean War he served in the United States Army. For several years he taught math and industrial arts in Exeter, Stella, Purdy and Cassville.
He was a member of Mill Street Church of Christ in Cassville, where services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 23, 2018 under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Ken West will conduct the services. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
