Michael Allen 'Mike' Blood, age 55, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Mike was born April 18, 1962 in Carthage to Vernace Blood and the late Lesta Mae Hurst Blood and was an area lifetime resident.
Mike graduated from Missouri Southern State College with a degree in accounting and owned and operated Blood Tax Service in Joplin for the past thirty years.
Mike loved to sing. He was active with the Joplin Little Theatre and listened to all genres of music. Mike enjoyed travel and Disney cruises. He was involved with many area charities and attended their events whenever he could. Mike was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Mike married Kathy Burr on June 16, 1989 in Joplin. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Adam Blood and his fiancé, Shea, Lincoln, Nebraska; his father, Vernace Blood, Joplin; maternal grandmother and grandfather, Frank and Mae Bell Nichols, Joplin; two sisters, Darlene 'Dody' Walker and husband, Richard, Joplin, Rebecca Shouse, Joplin; treasured aunt, Marie Royster; uncles, Leroy and Butch Hurst; close friend, John Nolan, Kansas City; several extended family members and many dear friends.
Memorial services are planned for Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks or to the Alzheimer's Association, both in care of Parker Mortuary.
