Wilma Dean Cantrell, age 80, Carl Junction, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Freeman West of Joplin.
Wilma was born May 7, 1937 in Salina, Kansas, daughter of the late Robert Orland "Chig" Gust and Margaret Louise Artinger Gust. Wilma attended Waco Schools, and worked on her family farm. She was one of 10 children, and was the child that took over the family chores of cooking, cleaning, etc. for her family during her childhood. She married Dale Cantrell on October 16, 1954. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2000. She was also preceded in death by five siblings. She was a member of Fir Road Christian Church of Carl Junction.
Survivors include her children, Steve Cantrell and wife Ann, Cindy Cantrell, and Bob Cantrell all of Carl Junction; grandchildren, Mandy Bauer and husband Jeff of Jasper, Mike Cantrell and wife Melissa of Carl Junction, Ashley Cantrell of Carl Junction, Mariah Cantrell of Joplin, Morghan Cantrell and Garrett Cantrell both of Carl Junction; great-grandchildren, Hunter Cantrell, Hannah Cantrell, Kaden Bauer, Kennadi Bauer, Isabella Cantrell, and Kyzier Cantrell; brother, Robert Gust and wife Susan; sisters, Mildred Nelson and husband Carl, Marcia Foster and husband James, and Linda Williams and husband Don all of Joplin; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Fir Road Christian Church with Pastor Dan Toney officiating. Interment will follow in Carl Junction Cemetery with Mike Cantrell, Hunter Cantrell, Garrett Cantrell, Jeff Bauer, Jeff Royster, and Jerry Smith serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
