Alice Marie Canfield, 80, Pierce City, MO entered into eternal rest on August 24, 2019 after a car accident in Hattiesburg, MS. She was born December 22, 1938 in Pierce City to Boyden and Jean (Endicott) Brown.
She lived her life in Kansas and Southwest Missouri. Alice was a nursing home administrator, and for many years ran the Sarcoxie Nursing Center. She also served as the Sarcoxie mayor and remained active in the Lions Club. Alice loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling the United States and cruising the Caribbean. She was an avid bridge player in Neosho and Pierce City.
Alice raised five children: Marilyn Jean Zerr of Pierce City, MO, Terry A. Thurman and wife, Pam of Rogers, AR, Denzil Lyle Thurman and wife, Claudia of Sarcoxie, MO, Greggory O. Thurman and partner, Brenda Wilson of Neosho, MO, and Mark A. Thurman, who preceded her in death.
Alice is also survived by eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, William Eugene Haase of Wheaton, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her son, Mark, she is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and one sister.
Services will be held Friday, August 30, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Neosho. Interment will follow at Neosho IOOF Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held Thursday evening, August 29, from 6 pm until 7 pm at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
