Mary J. Woodard, 84, of Webb City, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019.
Mary was born November 3, 1934, in Hallowell, Kansas, to the union of the late Elmer and Bessie (Morris) Haynes. On April 15, 1955, she was united in marriage to Alvin Woodard and to this union three children were born. Mary worked as a homemaker, raising her children and taking care of the home. She was a lifetime member of the Webb City Church of the Nazarene. Mary enjoyed singing bluegrass at the ATA Lodge and traveling the four-state area. She especially enjoyed her trips to Branson. Mary always made the most of life and lived it to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; and her brother, Jim Haynes.
Survivors include her children, Kathy Woodard of Webb City, Mark Woodard (Luann) of Joplin and Karen Garfield (Kent) of Lamar; four grandchildren, Brian, Jennifer, Amy and Joshua; three great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home with Pastor Nathan Haeck officiating. Burial will follow at Edgmand Cemetery in Columbus, Kansas. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Webb City Church of the Nazarene Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
