Christi Medlin

(From Mason-Woodard Funeral Home)

Christen Elaine Medlin, "Christi," 62, of Joplin, Missouri, went to be with Jesus on Monday, August 12, 2019 after an eight year fight with a spinal ependymoma. We know she is now enjoying freedom from the hospital bed and wheelchair - running, jumping and singing in the presence of God. She is re-united with her mother, Carolyn, father-in-law, Herb, nephews, Daven & Brennan, and many other special friends and extended family.

Born in Parsons, Kansas on June 8, 1957 to Don and Carolyn Divine, Christi was a passionate, joyful and loving daughter, wife, mother and friend. She married her best friend, Kent Medlin in 1977, and recently celebrated 42 years of marriage. They moved to Joplin in 1978, where they raised three children.

Christi was an incredible woman of faith, hope, purpose and joy. Not only did she share these things with her family, but she shared her life with extended family, friends, neighbors and her community. She was an encourager, a servant, a mentor, and a friend to so many in the Joplin area and beyond. Christi had an infectious smile, loved to laugh and always looked for an opportunity to bring people together.

She was a member of Destiny Church, serving in multiple areas over the years, participated in Bible Study Fellowship for well over a decade, and was a member of the Joplin-area YoungLife ministry for over 20 years. Though her family and community were her #1 job, Christi also spent 11 years working for Hershey, Inc and many years working in her dad's restaurants. In between all of that you could usually find her at a soccer game, baseball game or family activity. She was the best mom ever.

Christi is survived by her husband, Kent Medlin of Joplin, MO; her father, Don Divine of Webb City, MO; her siblings, David & Cindy Divine of Douglasville, GA, Paul & Teresa Divine of Joplin, MO and Jane & Darrin Henry of Centerton, AR and Curt & Kathy Medlin of Carl Junction, MO; her children, Hillary & Aldair Queiroz of Manaus, Brazil, Derek & Liz Medlin of Whitehouse Station, NJ and Mark Medlin of Raleigh, NC; and her grandchildren, Addysan & Liam Queiroz and Owen & Ana Medlin, and is expecting another grandchild in October.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 6:00-7:00PM at Destiny Church. Address: 3411 N Rangeline Rd, Joplin, MO 64801. Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 2:00pm at Destiny Church with Inurnment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Passion & Compassion Ministries and may be entrusted to the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin.
