Scott A. Souders, 38, of Chetopa died at his home on Monday, Aug. 12, 2019.
On July 5, 1981, Scott Allen Souders was born to Steven Wayne and Patricia Sue (Carnahan) Souders in Coffeyville. He grew up and attended school in Chetopa. He graduated from Chetopa High School in 1999 and earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering with a minor in math from Pittsburg State University in 2004.
Scott was an electrical engineer at Cardinal Scale in Webb City, Missouri, and later worked for Westar Energy in Oswego. He then worked for Electrical Power Systems of Kansas City. He was currently employed by ABM in Tulsa.
Scott was a member of First Christian Church in Chetopa. His favorite activities included hunting, fishing, working on his truck and especially spending time with his beloved boxer, Rusty.
Survivors include his companion, Brittany Barnett, of the home; his beloved boxer, Rusty; his parents, Steve and Patty Souders of Chetopa; his grandmother, Juanita Carnahan of Altamont; a brother, Brian Souders and his wife, Laci, of Green Forest, Arkansas; a sister, Crystal Souders and her fiance, Josh Akin, of Anderson, Missouri; nieces, Stevie Lynn Souders and Joanie Hayes; and nephews, Bill Hayes and Bobby Hayes.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Eugene Carnahan; and his paternal grandparents, Wayne and Mary Souders.
The service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Chetopa. The family will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Chetopa.
