Mrs. Gertrude F. Berger, 91, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Friday morning, August 16, 2019, at Joplin Gardens after months of declining health.
Gertrude was born April 25, 1928, in Racine, Wisconsin, to the union of the late Philip and Fanny (Stein) Friedman. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and worked as a Pharmacist in Wisconsin. On July 7, 1969, Gertrude was united in marriage to Joseph Berger and together they shared nearly 44 years of before his passing on April 12, 2013. She loved reading and enjoyed spoiling her dogs. Gertrude was a member of the United Hebrew Congregation of Joplin.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Joseph.
Survivors include her stepson, Harold Berger, of Joplin; two nephews; and her beloved dogs, Joey, Zoey and Patrick.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Kaye Smith for the wonderful care she gave to Gertrude.
Graveside funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2019, at Mount Hope Cemetery with Paul Teverow officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Lary Kndblauch, Randy Bell, Buryl Clingan, Jim Fleischaker, Alan Whippman and Dick Crim. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Hebrew Congregation in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
