Lonnie Houston

Mr. Lonnie Ray Houston, 77, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019 in the comfort of his home.

Lonnie entered this life on June 18, 1947 in Sarcoxie, Missouri, to the union of the late Hugh Vance and Loveta Pearl (Carnes) Houston. He was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School. He retired from ICI Explosives after many years of dedicated service. He was also owner of Lonnie’s Tavern in Sarcoxie, Missouri. Lonnie was a lifelong area resident. He enjoyed various hobbies, motorcycles, his motor scooter, spending time with family and friends, reading and was a Mark Twain enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Elizabeth “Betty” Houston; his siblings, Don Houston, Ruth “Dobe” Newman, Gene Houston and Betty Goodman.








Lonnie is survived by his children, Greg Houston of Sarcoxie, Missouri and Karen Grimm (David) of Strafford, Missouri; grandchildren, Gavin Grimm, Gordon Grimm Brooke Robinson and Brady Houston; nine great grandchildren; and companion, Teresa McCutcheon.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Sarcoxie Cemetery with Minister David Grimm officiating. The family has requested memorial contributions be directed to the Community Outreach or Fair Haven Children’s Home in care of the funeral home.
