Janie Williams

(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)

Alice Jane “Janie” Williams, age 70, left this life for heaven Friday afternoon, August 9, 2019 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Missouri, surrounded by family.

She had fought bravely against cancer since December 2018, always with a positive, upbeat attitude.

Janie was born September 20, 1947 in Webb City, Missouri at Jane Chinn Hospital. She graduated from Webb City High School in 1965. She enjoyed attending her class re-unions and keeping in touch with old classmates.

Janie was united in marriage to Jerry Williams on December 10, 1977 in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death as well as her mother, Hazel Mae Wright.

Janie was an avid collector of anything pertaining to Mickey Mouse. She had been to Disneyland and Disney World several times. She loved Neil Diamond, and had seen him in concert many times. Her Chihuahuas, Maxwell and Tigger were so loved by Janie. They were called “the boys”. They were such company for her. The three of them enjoyed going for rides in her Volkswagen Beetle and stopping for ice cream at Sonic.

Janie was strong in her faith and said she was ready to be one of God’s children. We’re sure her husband Jerry and her sweet mom Hazel Mae met her at Heaven’s gate.

Surviving Janie is one son, Brad Callen (Amy), Chino Hills, California; two grandsons, Nicholas and Derek, Chino Hills, California; her father, Dale Wright, Carterville, Missouri; one sister Becky Palmer (Ed), Webb City, Missouri; one niece, Rachael Durland ( Chris) Joplin, Missouri, one great niece and one great nephew, Amelia and Joseph, Joplin, Missouri; and Maxwell and Tigger of the home.

Much gratitude to Mercy Oncology and Mercy Hospital and their wonderful staff. A special thank you to Dr. Jose Dehoyos for his amazing and compassionate care.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday August 17, 2019 at the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Carterville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Joplin Humane Society in Janie’s name and may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home Webb City, Missouri.
