Janice R. Michael, age 65, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at National Health Care of Joplin after a battle with cancer.
Janice was born November 17, 1953 in Hutchison, Kansas, daughter of late Joseph H. Michael, and Jean Fletcher Smith of Galena, Kansas. She moved to Joplin 33 years ago, and worked in the restaurant business as a chef for years, most recently with Red Onion Express. She loved animals, and was known to care for several strays at one time.
In addition to her father, Janice was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Michael, and a sister, Bernice J. Winter.
Survivors include her mother, Jean Smith; brother, Joe D. Michael of Joplin; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, with burial of her ashes in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Joplin Humane Society.
