Ralph Pingree

Ralph Arthur Pingree, 81, of rural Asbury, formerly a long time Mindenmines resident, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon at his home. He was born August 17, 1936 at Liberal, Missouri, the son of Arthur and Emble (Skaggs) Pingree. He attended Glendale grade school in rural Asbury, and grade school later in Alton, Missouri. He graduated from Minden High School in 1955 and then from Kansas State Teachers College (PSU) in welding.

Mr. Pingree started working at Harvest Brand Stockade in Pittsburg in 1957, then he went to the U.S. Army for 2 ½ years. When he returned home, he went back to work at Stockade for forty-four years, before retiring in 2003.

On May 16, 1964, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Elaine Collier at Lamar, Missouri. She survives of the home. He was a deacon at the Minden Baptist Church. Later, he became a member at the First Baptist Church in Liberal, Missouri. He attended the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church in Pittsburg. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to watch the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Pingree of the home; a daughter, Janelle Bunney and her husband, Calvin of Liberal, Missouri; a grandson, Colton Bunney.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 20) at the Nashville Cemetery with Pastor Daryl Gaddy officiating. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Brenner Mortuary to sign the register. The family suggests memorials be given to the family to help with expenses. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
