Melissa Kay "Missy" Harper, age 46, Carterville, Missouri, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, after a lengthy illness.
Missy was born March 31, 1971 in Webb City, Missouri, daughter of the late William Jack Harper and Ursalee Byrd Dowell. She attended Webb City Schools, and was a stay at home mother taking care of her children. She enjoyed attending Carterville Christian Church.
In addition to her father, Missy was preceded in death by her step-dad, Cecil "Pops" Dowell, brother Snooky Harper, and nephews, Justin Harper and Cory Perry.
Survivors include her husband, Allan C. Newman; 10 children, Cody Booth and husband Adam, Kyle Gillman and wife Brittney, Nathan Gillman, Amber Newman, Austin Newman, Bryan Newman, Carson Newman, Ellijaha Newman, Autumn Terry and husband Zach, Ashley Caughorn and husband Jonah; mother, Ursalee Dowell; brothers Jeff Harper, Scott Harper and wife Michelle, and Kenneth Harper and wife Bobby; sisters, Debbie Collins and Gina Harper; sister-in-law, Dobie Harper; grandchildren, Brylan Terry, Bentlee Stark, Camden Terry, Camreon Caughorn, Jaxen Booth and Justin Booth; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday, September 13, 2107 at 10:00 a.m. in Carterville Christian Church with Pastor Robin Sigars officiating. Interment will follow in Carterville Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
