Wanda Hancox

Wanda Charlene Hancox, age 79, Webb City, passed away at 6:23 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Freeman Hospital.

Wanda was born May 20, 1938 in Joplin and was the daughter of the late Ralph Hill and Opal Talley Hill and was a lifetime Joplin area resident.

For 35 years, she worked as a personal banker, retiring from U.S. Bank in 2002. Following retirement, she worked at Tangled Roots Nursery and Blood Tax Service. For the past several years, Wanda has enjoyed the company of her two great grandsons, Landon and Rayce.

Wanda was a longtime member of One Church and was active with the children's ministry. She was a past member of the American Business Women's Association and volunteered with the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, canning and freezing food, and making Christmas candy for family and friends. Family was priority to Wanda. She never missed a family sporting event and loved to cook for family functions. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She married Ronald Hancox on November 26, 1988 in Joplin. He preceded her in death on January 4, 2009.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Gary Hill; a niece, Leslie Fuller and a nephew, Rick Hill.

Survivors include two daughters, Patti Etherton and husband, Bobby, Joplin, Kristi Seibert and husband, Mike, Joplin; a sister, Pat Johnson and husband, Norman, Carthage; two grandchildren, Brandon Straughn and wife, Amber, Jonmichael Seibert; two great grandchildren, Landon and Rayce Straughn; and several other extended family members and many friends.

Services are planned for Monday at 9:30 a.m. at One Church. Shane Munn will officiate. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Blood, Brandon Hook, Gary Stubblefield, Steve Roark, Mark Hancox and Rick Hancox. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Straughn, Landon Straughn, Rayce Straughn, Bobby Etherton, Mike Seibert and Jonmichael Seibert. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to One Church Children's Ministries or to the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, both in care of Parker Mortuary.
