(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Suzanne M. McGarrah, age 96, of Joplin, MO, passed away on Thursday November 5, 2020, at Westgate in Wildwood Ranch following an illness surrounded by her loyal caregivers.
Suzanne was born on April 7, 1924 in Carl Junction, MO the daughter of the late Oscar and Teresa (Appleman) Magoon. She worked as a Steel Sales Correspondent for Armco Steel in Joplin and later in Kansas City, MO. She was a member of Jesus Name Church in Chetopa, KS. She was also a past member of the Sweet Adelines.
She married Orville McGarrah on April 17, 1977 in Kansas City, MO. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2010. She was also preceded in death by a stepson, Dennis McGarrah.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann Phelps and husband Ronald, Joplin; one grandson, Robert Phelps, Joplin; four stepdaughters, Delena Smith, Delenda Henson, Deborah Bixler, and Deanna Humphreys; five stepsons, Orville “Bo” McGarrah, Darrell McGarrah, Sr., Don McGarrah, Dwight McGarrah, and Dewey McGarrah; and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Howard Cemetery in Goodman, MO. Pastor Dewey McGarrah will officiate. The visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Sunday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
